Vol. 471 No. 2

Written Answers. - Attendance in State Institutions.

Michael McDowell

Question:

145 Mr. M. McDowell asked the Minister for Education whether a person (details supplied) in County Dublin was ever a pupil at Scoil Ard Mhuire, Lusk, County Dublin, or at Finglas Children's Centre, either the industrial school or the remand and assessment unit, or any other State institution in Dublin; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [20646/96]

The records available to my Department indicate that the person in question was never a pupil at Scoil Árd Mhuire, Lusk, County Dublin, or at Finglas Children's Centre, either in the remand and assessment unit or in the industrial school.

I understand that the person in question spent two months in St. Vincent's Industrial School, Goldenbridge, Dublin, in the early 1970s, following which he returned to his family.

I also understand that the person in question spent a number of years on a residential basis in a special school for children with a mild mental handicap in the 1970s.
