Vol. 471 No. 2

Written Answers. - Loran C Mast.

Tony Killeen

Question:

181 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for the Marine the Department or body which is responsible for the payment of storage costs of materials purchased for the proposed Loran C mast; the costs to date in this regard; and the location where the equipment is stored. [20548/96]

The Department of the Marine has to date paid £23,428 in costs relating to the storage of equipment purchased for the proposed Loran C mast. Payment of these costs, which have arisen due to a lengthy planning and legal process, is made through the Commissioners of Irish Lights who are acting on an agency basis for the Department in respect of the Loran C project. I understand that the equipment is stored at Pacy-sur-Eure outside Paris, France.
