Vol. 471 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Aid.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

75 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Health whether extra finance will be made available to either local authorities or the health boards to enable a fund for replacing doors and windows of the houses of senior citizens who have been given a chance to have security devices fitted, but whose doors and windows are not currently suitable from a security point of view; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20497/96]

Limerick East): The special housing aid scheme for the elderly, under which defective doors and windows might be replaced, although administered by the health boards, is in fact, funded by my colleague the Minister for the Environment. It is not the intendion of the Department of Health to become involved in the funding of this scheme.
