Vol. 471 No. 4

Written Answers - Reinstatement of Civil Servant.

Mary Coughlan

Question:

244 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for Social Welfare when a person (details supplied) in County Donegal will be reinstated in his Department in Letterkenny, County Donegal. [21007/96]

The person concerned made application to resume duty in the Letterkenny offices of my Department following a six month career break which expired on 5 September 1996. The person will be offered resumption of duty in Letterkenny as soon as there is a fillable vacancy in her grade to which she can be assigned.

Civil servants availing of career breaks are assured of re-employment in a relevant grade within 12 months of the expiry of the career break. In all cases of persons wishing to resume duty following career break, my Department endeavours, in consultation with the Department of Finance, to minimise the waiting period.
