Question:

70 Ms M. Fox asked the Minister for Health if he has made a decision regarding Calcichew D3 and its possible addition to the general medical scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20877/96]

Limerick East): I understand that this is an extremely beneficial drug for use as a preventative measure for osteoporosis in the elderly for which there are no suitable alternatives available. Accordingly, arrangements are being made for Calcichew D3 to be included on the list of reimbursable items under the GMS scheme with effect from 1 December 1996.
