Vol. 471 No. 4

Written Answers - Independent Living Report.

Brian Cowen

Question:

90 Mr. Cowen asked the Minister for Health if he will have arrangements made for the publication of a recent cost benefit analysis report written by a person (details supplied) regarding the Centre for Independent Living proposals for the employment of personal assistants for disabled people who wish to have an independent life or a more independent life. [21080/96]

Limerick East): The cost-benefit analysis referred to is a cost-benefit study of personal assistance services. This study, which was completed last year, was commissioned by the Advisory Group on Personal Assistance Services to help establish the total costs of personal assistance services and to assess their total benefits. The study arose solely in the context of providing the group with background research data on this service to enable it to reach the decisions in its report. It was not intended by the group to publish it separetly. The costs of this service are included in the report of the group.
