149 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for the Marine the term of office of the board of the Shannon Regional Fisheries Board; and the members of the board. [21394/96]

The Shannon Regional Fisheries Board comprises 14 elected representatives and seven ministerial appointees. Members of fisheries boards hold appointments for a maximum period of five years. The present term of office expires on 16 December 1997.

Casual vacancies which occur among the ministerial appointees are filled by the Minister, while any such vacancy among the elected members is filled by co-option from among candidates for the previous election. In such cases the appointments expire on the holding of the next elections to the board.

The current elected members are: Patrick O'Sullivan, Patrick Peril, Seany Quinlivan, James Meehan, Gabriel McKenna, John Slattery, Michael McNamara, Edmond P. Costello, Martin McEnroe, Sean Young, William Hickey, Christopher Molamphy, Jim Robinson, Patrick J. Isdell.

The current ministerial appointees are: Mary Bohan, Declan Quigley, Sean Fearon, Cyril O'Dowd, Kevin Duffy, Michael Callaghan, Anthony Kearney.

150 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for the Marine the number of personnel who have left the Shannon Regional Fisheries Board in each of the years from 1990 to 1994; the employees, if any, who took early retirement; and if so, the special packages, if any, which were made available in this regard. [21395/96]

The following number of staff left the Shannon Regional Fisheries Board in each of the years 1990 to 1994: 1990, 2; 1991, 1; 1992, 3; 1993, 1; 1994, 2.

During this period one employee took early retirement on health grounds. However, no special package applied in this case and the officer concerned was paid the normal lump sum gratuity and pension under the fisheries boards' superannuation scheme.
