Vol. 472 No. 3

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

James Leonard

Question:

185 Mr. Leonard asked the Minister for Education if funding will be made available in 1997 for a new school building at Urbleshanny, Scotstown, County Monaghan. [23225/96]

The current position on the project is that all the planning work has been completed and the contract documentation is ready. A decision on the timing of the tender process must be taken in the light of existing contractual commitments for 1997, and the funds which will be available in 1997. At this stage, I am not in a position to take a decision on the tender process for the school.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

186 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Education if she will provide funding for a recreation centre at Saint Macartan's College, Monaghan; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [23231/96]

Grants under the recreational and major facilities schemes have recently been allocated and all available funds are now committed to these existing projects. The application from Saint Macartan's College will be reconsidered in the event of further funding becoming available in 1997 and in the context of the increasing demand for funding from other sports and community groups.
