Vol. 472 No. 3

Written Answers. - Employment Rights Bodies.

Tom Kitt

Question:

55 Mr. T. Kitt asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the measures, if any, he intends to take to streamline and simplify the operation and functions of the various conciliation and employment rights agencies and authorities in order to make them more accessible to the public. [22603/96]

I assume that the Deputy is referring to the Labour Court, the Labour Relations Commission and the Employment Appeals Tribunal.

All of these bodies, each of which has different functions, are aware of the need to ensure prompt and efficient responses to those who use their services.

I am not aware of any problem of lack of accessibility resulting from the way in which the bodies concerned are structured, nor have the employers and workers organisations raised such issues.
