Vol. 472 No. 4

Written Answers. - National Heritage Areas.

Tony Killeen

Question:

71 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry as President of the Council of Farm Minister and in relation to compensation to farmers as a result of implementation of national heritage areas and special areas of conservation, if this issue has been discussed by the Council. [23401/96]

This issue has not been discussed by the Council of Agriculture Ministers during the Irish Presidency. The designation and implementation of natural heritage areas and special areas of conservation is, of course, primarily the responsibility of the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht.
