122 Mr. Martin asked the Minister for Education if she will ensure that points are allocated for leaving certificate foundation Irish and for leaving certificate foundation mathematics. [23706/96]

The allocation of points to leaving certificate subjects for the purpose of entry to courses is a matter for the third level institutions concerned.

Officials of my Department have participated in a series of briefing meetings with representative bodies for employers and third level institutions on recent senior cycle changes. These changes including the introduction of new syllabuses at leaving certificate foundation level in mathematics and Irish were explained at the meetings.
