Vol. 472 No. 6

Written Answers. - Disabilities Report.

Mary Wallace

Question:

43 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Finance the implications, if any, for Government Departments of the report of the Commission on the Status of People with Disabilities; and if so, when he intends to commence addressing these implications. [23863/96]

As the Deputy is aware, the report of the Commission on the Status of People with Disabilities has wide-ranging implications for many Departments and agencies. The Government has approved the establishment of a monitoring committee whose function will be to monitor implementation of the commission's recommendations and an interdepartmental task force to prepare the Government's plan of action. The latter group will consider the implications of the commission's report for the various Government Departments and agencies involved. My colleague, the Minister for Equality and Law Reform, is proceeding with the arrangements for the establishment of these groups.
