Vol. 472 No. 8

Written Answers. - Peace and Reconciliation Programme.

Dermot Ahern

Question:

54 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Finance if his attention has been drawn to any difficulties regarding the take-up of EU peace and reconciliation funding by reason of the fact that while organisations on the south side of the Border are willing to participate, sister organisations on the north side of the Border, in some cases, are not, for political reasons; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20166/96]

There have been no particular difficulties experienced in dealing with applications under the Special EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation in the Border counties, and I am not aware of any difficulties in Northern Ireland. In a written reply to the Deputy on this point in the Dáil on 30 October 1996 I asked the Deputy to let me have details of any specific instance which concerned him. If he does so I can have the matter investigated.
