Having regard to the existing level of commitments under the group water schemes programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve this scheme.

Discussions will be held shortly with the local authority and the group on the feasibility of implementing proposals based on the outline design submitted by the group. I am aware of the importance of the scheme, and will consider its funding in the context of the finances available for group schemes in 1997.
