Question:37 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Finance the specific areas, if any, which are under review in relation to the mid-term review of the current community support framework for Ireland. [24827/96]

The mid-term review will examine all the constituent Operational Programmes of the Community Support Framework.
The external evaluators employed to assist in the mid-term review will review developments in the internal and external environments of the programmes. They will evaluate the programmes for their efficiency, effectiveness and socio-economic impact. In keeping with the emphasis at European level on intensifying the employment creation potential of structural interventions the evaluators are being asked to pay particular attention to the possibilities for the creation of sustainable employment. Particular attention is also being given to the possibility of refocusing the programmes in light of the peace process and to compliance with other community policies such as on equal opportunity and the environment.
