Vol. 473 No. 3

Written Answers. - Science and Technology Park.

Joe Walsh

Question:

212 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the plans, if any, he has for the provision of a science and technology park in the Cork area; if he supports such a development; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24958/96]

I understand that the Cork Business and Technology Park at Model Farm Road is being developed and marketed by IDA Ireland as a prestige, quality, high amenity location principally for science, technology and software business.

The park, which comprises 62 acres in all, at present houses eight companies employing a total of 520 people — 460 permanent and about 60 temporary. The park also contains a vacant 21,000 square foot advance factory built by a private developer and a 12,000 square foot office building.

I understand there are still 32 acres of the park remaining to be filled.
