All expenditure in respect of advertising and publicity is accounted for under Subhead A.8 of my Department's Vote. The records of this expenditure for 1995 and 1996 (to-date) show the following breakdown:

1995

1996 (to date)

Total Paid

£107,000

£114,000

A separate classification for public relations is not maintained. Most of the expenditure is in respect of statutory and public information requirements and as the amount in respect of public relations would be minimal, I consider that the time and cost involved to ascertain that amount would not be justified.
Research Projects are funded out of Subhead Y of my Department's Vote: Payments from this subhead in respect of 1995 and 1996 (to date) were made to the following:
1995

Apart from appointments to the boards of semi-State bodies under the aegis of my Department, I have no function in relation to recruitment of persons to these bodies. Neither do I have any function in relation to the appointment of consultants to these bodies.
