Vol. 473 No. 3

Written Answers. - EU Instruments.

Ivor Callely

Question:

253 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if he will give details of the EU Directives, Regulations and Conventions in respect of which his Department has responsibility and which have not been transposed into or made part of Irish law; and the timescale for completion of the work in respect of each instrument. [25122/96]

Details of EU directives which come within my Department's area of responsibility and which are still awaiting transposition into Irish law are contained in the attached schedule.

Council Regulation (EEC) No. 2454/92 laying down the conditions under which non-resident carriers may operate national road passenger transport services within a member state has very limited practical application in Ireland and is implemented on an administrative basis. It will not be transposed into Irish law in view of recent EC proposals which will supersede the terms of the existing regulation.

The question on conventions is being dealt with and the response will be communicated directly to the Deputy as soon as possible.
