Sub-Committee of Committee on Procedure and Privileges: Motion.

I move:

That, in relation to the Resolution of Dáil Éireann of 11th December, 1996 and notwithstanding anything contained therein—

(a) on the receipt of the report from Judge Buchanan by the Ceann Comhairle in his capacity as Chairman of the Committee on Procedure and Privileges, the Report shall stand referred to a sub-Committee of the Dáil Committee on Procedure and Privileges;

(b) for the purpose of paragraph (a) and for the purpose of the proceedings of the sub-Committee, the words "Committee" and "sub-Committee" shall be construed together;

(c) the sub-Committee shall have power to send for persons, papers and record;

(d) the sub-Committee shall have power to take evidence in public; and shall have power to print and publish from time to time minutes of evidence taken, together with such related documents as it thinks fit; and

(e) the members of the sub-Committee shall be Deputies Michael Bell, Eric Byrne, Noel Dempsey and, notwithstanding anything in Standing Orders 88 and 89, Deputies Jim O'Keeffe and Desmond J. O'Malley are hereby nominated as members of the Committee on Procedure and Privileges for the purpose of serving on the aforementioned sub-Committee.
