Vol. 473 No. 3

Written Answers. - Registration of Marriage.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

87 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform if he will amend the law to regularise the situation of a couple (details supplied) in County Monaghan. [25190/96]

As indicated by the Minister for Health in reply to Question No. 44 of 17 December 1996 the administration of the registration system for marriages is primarily a matter for An tArd Chláraitheoir (Registrar-General) of Births, Deaths and Marriages and for local registrars who operate under his general direction. The position in relation to the case in question is as outlined in that reply.
