Vol. 473 No. 4

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

Máire Geoghegan-Quinn

Question:

449 Mrs. Geoghegan-Quinn asked the Minister for Justice when a decision will be made regarding a commonage (details supplied) in County Galway. [1590/97]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this application refers to a vesting order partitioning commonage which was lodged by the Land Commission in April 1984. In the case of Land Commission schedules, the property is deemed to be registered as of date of vesting by the Land Commission.

I am further informed that none of the folios comprising the commonage is missing and that work is in progress in registering folios of individual owners. At present five out of 11 registers are completed. Folio 36576 is completed and the new folio opened is 32706F. It is not possible to estimate a completion date at this stage in respect of the folios for the remaining commonage owners.
However, it is the policy of the Land Registry to try, as far as possible, to expedite cases in which it can be established that special circumstances of urgency exist. Any such cases will be specially considered if details of the reasons for urgency are submitted to the Registrar of Titles.
