170 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the progress, if any, made by his Department or the industrial development agencies in assisting the reopening of a factory (details supplied) in County Cavan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1940/97]
Since the closure of this plant my Department has been monitoring the situation in liaison with Forbairt.
Forbairt has held discussions with management about reopening the factory on a viable basis and will continue to use all its endeavours with management to secure a resumption of activities at this plant.
However, the resumption of activities at the plant is a decision for the company alone to make.
