Vol. 473 No. 5

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

Kathleen Lynch

Question:

17 Kathleen Lynch asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the fact that an upper age limit of 40 years is being advertised for applicants for the post of school attendance officer in Cork; the proposals, if any, she has to increase the upper age limit for future competitions to bring her Department into line with the 1991 decision to raise age limits in the public service generally to 50 years; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1746/97]

My attention has been drawn to the matter referred to by the Deputy.

I have directed my Department to carry out an urgent review of procedures in relation to the filling of such posts in the future with a view to bringing them fully into line with the approach on age limits adopted in the public service generally.
