Vol. 473 No. 5

Written Answers. - Education Centres.

Matt Brennan

Question:

37 Mr. M. Brennan asked the Minister for Education the composition of the selection boards for the appointment of the directors of the proposed upgraded education centres; if there is a management committee for every one of these education centres; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1744/97]

The selection boards will comprise five persons, three nominees of the management committee of the centre and two nominees of the Department of Education. One of the nominees of the management committee of the education centre must be an existing full-time director from a non-neighbouring centre and one of the Department's nominees may be from outside the Department.

Some of the new full-time centres will be in areas where there are currently study groups. Such centres may not have management committees at present. However, where there is no properly constituted management committee in place such a committee will have to be formed.
