Question:156 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for the Environment if he will provide funding for the replacement of the library and headquarters at Clones town, County Monaghan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2122/97]
Written Answers. - Library Funding.
Proposals from Monaghan County Council seeking approval in principle for a new library headquarters in Clones were received by my Department in March 1993. The council were subsequently asked to revise their proposals with a view to reducing the scale and costs of the project.
In September 1996, the County Council submitted new proposals to situate the library headquarters in Monaghan Town. Consideration of these proposals is awaiting the receipt in my Department of the Council's library development programme.
My Department has not received any proposals in relation to the branch library in Clones.
