Vol. 473 No. 6

Written Answers. - School Refurbishment.

Noel Dempsey

Question:

189 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Education if she will approve as a matter of urgency a request from Meath Vocational Educational Committee for a decision in relation to works which need to be carried out at Beaufort College, Navan, County Meath. [2085/97]

Approval was granted by the building unit of my Department to County Meath vocational education committee to employ a contractor to carry out a comprehensive examination of the roof at Beaufort College and this has now been undertaken. The details are currently being assessed by the building unit's technical staff. When the report has been examined in full, the Department will be in contact with the vocational education committee.

Tenders have also been received in respect of work to the heating system at the school. For safety and other practical reasons, it is not proposed to commence this work until the end of the school year in June.
