Vol. 473 No. 6

Family Law (Amendment) Bill, 1997: First Stage.

I move:

That leave be granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to exempt marriages solemnised between the 1st day of August, 1996 and the 31st day of March, 1997 from the provisions of section 32 of the Family Law Act, 1995, to the intent that such marriages would not be void by reason of non-compliance with section 32 of the said Act.

Is the Bill opposed?

Question put and agreed to.

Since this is a Private Members' Bill, Second Stage must, under Standing Orders, be taken in Private Members' time.

I move that Second Stage be taken in Private Members' time.

Question put and agreed to.
