Question:

277 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the amount of liquid milk imported into Ireland in the year ending 31 December 1996. [2095/97]

CSO data are not as yet available for the year ended 31 December 1996. Data for the previous year published by CSO shows that the quantity of milk in liquid form imported was 167,753 tonnes — 35.837 million gallons. This includes milk for both drinking and manufacturing purposes.
