Vol. 473 No. 6

Written Answers. - Prison Administration.

Desmond J. O'Malley

Question:

60 Mr. O'Malley asked the Minister for Justice the measures, if any, taken by her Department to establish a prison services executive; the timescale involved to bring about this reform; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [2186/97]

As you are aware, the Government decided on 12 November 1996 to set up a small expert group to work out all detailed aspects of the proposed new prisons administration. This group has been asked to report by the end of January 1997.
