Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Tony Gregory

Question:

52 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Health the number of children on waiting lists for dental care in each of the health centres in Dublin city; the number of adults on waiting lists for orthodontists in each of the centres in Dublin city; and the number of children on waiting lists for ear, nose and throat operations in each of the children's hospitals in Dublin city. [2699/97]

Limerick East): The provision of dental treatment to persons in Dublin city is the statutory responsibility of the Eastern Health Board and the waiting lists for routine dental treatment and for orthodontic treatment are maintained by the health board.

Accordingly, I have brought the Deputy's question to the attention of the chief executive officer of the health board and I have requested, as a matter of urgency, detailed information in regard to the waiting lists for routine dental treatment and for orthodontic treatment.

I will forward this information to the Deputy as soon as it is available to me.

The number of children on waiting lists for ear, nose and throat procedures in each of the three children's hospitals in Dublin city as at 31 December 1996 was as follows:

National Children's Hospital (Harcourt Street)

46

Our Lady's Hospital (Crumlin)

426

Temple Street Children's Hospital
