Question:114 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform the total legal costs incurred by his Department in 1995 for professional legal services; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2867/97]
Written Answers. - Departmental Costs.
No legal costs were incurred by my Department in 1995 for professional legal services. However, the remit of the Legal Aid Board in 1995 was to provide legal services in civil matters to eligible applicants, as required by the terms of the scheme of civil legal aid and advice, and my Department paid £6.2 million as grant-in-aid to the Legal Aid Board in 1995 for that purpose.
