Question:

141 Mr. Kenneally asked the Minister for the Environment the plans, if any, he has to extend the postal vote facility to sea fishermen at local elections; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2984/97]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 139 to 141, inclusive, together.

The Electoral Bill, 1994, proposes to provide postal voting arrangements for electors who, by reason of their occupation, are likely to be unable to attend their polling station on polling day. I understand that the Dáil Select Committee on Finance and General Affairs will take the Committee Stage of the Bill in March.
