Vol. 474 No. 3

Written Answers. - Cavan Education Centre.

Brendan Smith

Question:

157 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for Education the progress, if any, to date in relation to the conferral of full-time status on the Cavan Education Centre; the outcome of the meeting between officials of her Department and representatives of the management committee of this education centre; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [2807/97]

The Deputy will be aware from my previous replies that the development plan for the education centre network took account of many relevant factors including geographical spread and strategic locations within what will be the new education board areas. At the meeting with officials of my Department last December, members of the Cavan centre's management committee provided a detailed presentation, both orally and in writing, outlining the committee's case regarding the future status of the centre. I would like to assure the Deputy that every consideration is being given to the case presented and a decision will be made as soon as possible.
