171 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Education the enrolment numbers at St. Oliver Plunkett national school, Moate, County Westmeath, on 30 September 1996; if these numbers justify the appointment of an additional teacher; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [2942/97]

I understand the enrolment at St. Oliver Plunkett national school on the 30 September 1996 was 94 pupils. I am pleased to inform the Deputy that if this enrolment is valid, the school may appoint an additional teacher with effect from 1 September 1997.
