Vol. 474 No. 3

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Albert Reynolds

Question:

185 Mr. Reynolds asked the Minister for Education if she will make available some of the £250,000 required for the completion of phase two at St. Nathy's College, Ballaghaderreen, County Roscommon, in view of the fact that St. Joseph's convent school, the vocational school and St. Nathy's have amalgamated and the completion of phase two requires urgent funding. [3028/97]

My Department has recently completed an extension to St. Nathy's College, Ballaghaderreen, County Roscommon. An application for grant assistance towards the provision of additional teaching spaces at the school has not been submitted to my Department.

An application has been received in the sport section of my Department seeking assistance under the national lottery funded sports capital programme towards the provision of a sports hall at St. Nathy's College. This application will be considered in the event of funding being provided for the sports capital programme in 1997 and in the context of the increasing demand for funding from other sports and community groups.
