Question:203 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Social Welfare the total legal costs incurred by his Department in 1995 for professional legal services; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2867/97]
Written Answers. - Departmental Costs.
The total legal costs incurred by my Department in 1995 for professional legal services amounted to £180,442. Of this amount, £135,265 was in respect of legal costs relating to the payment of equal treatment arrears. Other legal costs included amounts in respect of judicial reviews on decisions on scheme entitlements, insurability decisions and claims in respect of personal injuries sustained while on departmental property.
