Vol. 474 No. 3

Written Answers. - Landing Facilities.

John O'Donoghue

Question:

289 Mr. O'Donoghue asked the Minister for the Marine when he will provide a landing place at Cromane, Killorglin, County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2987/97]

My Department is currently carrying out an assessment of the landing facility requirements in the Cromane area.

In view of the differing views at local level regarding any proposed development works at Cromane, the Department's regional engineer met representatives of both the Castlemaine Harbour Co-operative Society Ltd., and the Cromane Old Pier Development Association in December 1996, to discuss and ascertain their views on development.

A decision in the matter will be informed by the outcome of the assessment and the views of all concerned and will be further discussed with both Kerry County Council and local interests before being finalised.
