Vol. 474 No. 3

Written Answers. - Tax Allowances.

Michael Creed

Question:

83 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Finance if a person (details supplied) in County Cork is in receipt of his due allowances when determining his income tax liability. [3047/97]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer has been granted the maximum allowances due to him, i.e., exemption limit of £10,250 — married couple under 65 years of age with five dependent children—in the most recent relevant tax year, 1995-96. No tax liability arose for 1995-96; however, PRSI and levies amounted to £701.97.
