Vol. 474 No. 4

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

Before coming to the Order of Business, I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 31 from Deputy Eoin Ryan. I call on the Deputy to state the matter of which he has given notice to me.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil on a specific and urgent matter of public interest requiring urgent consideration, namely the scientific reports from the British inspector of pollution regarding the actual threat posed by the underground waste dump at Sellafield.

Having considered the matter fully, I do not consider it one to be contemplated by the Standing Order. Therefore, I cannot grant leave to move this motion.
