Vol. 474 No. 4

Written Answers. - Food Inspections.

M. J. Nolan

Question:

46 Mr. Nolan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he has satisfied himself that all food inspections as requested by Irish law and EU regulations are being carried out to his satisfaction by all agencies under the aegis of his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3166/97]

I am satisfied that all food inspections, as required by Irish law and EU regulations in areas for which my Department has responsibility, are being effectively and satisfactorily carried out. In the context of advancing technology both in production and processing and consumer requirements, I am constantly seeking to upgrade controls to the highest standards possible.
