Vol. 474 No. 4

Written Answers. - Housing Scheme.

Andrew Boylan

Question:

108 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for the Environment the number of new house starts awarded to Cavan County Council and Cavan Urban Council in 1996; the amount of grant-aid awarded to both councils for house improvements schemes in 1996; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3201/97]

The numbers of starts authorised for Cavan County Council and Cavan Urban District Council in 1996 were 45 and ten, respectively. An allocation of £50,000 was made to Cavan County Council in 1996 under the scheme of improvement works in lieu of local authority housing. No claim for payment under the scheme was received from the council in 1996. Cavan Urban District Council did not seek an allocation under the scheme in 1996.
