Vol. 474 No. 6

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

151 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for the Environment when funding will be provided for Corkeeron sewerage scheme at Ballybay, County Monaghan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3806/97]

As already announced, responsibility for the administration of the group water and sewerage schemes programme is being devolved to the local authorities, subject to existing commitments on foot of approvals issued by my Department. Where schemes have not yet been approved, including Corkeeran group sewerage scheme, it will be a matter for the relevant local authorities to decide on grant applications.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

152 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of the group sewerage schemes; and if he will forward the necessary information to a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [3808/97]

Group sewerage scheme grants of up to £1,600 per house are available where two or more households come together to provide a common sewage disposal system. Further details have been forwarded to the person referred to.

As already announced, responsibility for the administration of group water and sewerage schemes is being devolved to local authorities who will have to assess future proposals.
