Vol. 474 No. 6

Written Answers. - Teacher Registration.

P. J. Sheehan

Question:

185 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Education the categories of teachers which were requested to complete a pre-registration year; when this practice ceased; and the reason therefor. [3757/97]

I assume that the Deputy is referring to the Regulations for the Register of Intermediate School Teachers under which an applicant for registration is required to have completed at least one year of satisfactory experience as a teacher in either a recognised secondary school or other type of school approved for the purpose of this regulation. This has been, and still is, one of the principal conditions of registration under these regulations.
