187 Mr. Doherty asked the Minister for Education the reason Cloontuskert national school, at Cloontuskert, Lanesboro, County Roscommon, was not included in the 1997 building programme in view of the condition of this school. [3815/97]
My recent announcement concerning the 1997 building programme represented the first phase of projects that are being allowed to proceed to tender and construction.
The proposed new school at Cloontuskert is one of a number of urgent projects I am considering for a phased release to tender later in the year. When a decision is made, the school will be informed. At this stage, I am not in a position to say when work might commence.
