Mary Wallace

Question:

233 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the position of Ireland concerning the ILO convention 159; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3526/97]

ILO convention 159 on Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (Disabled Persons) was ratified by Ireland on 6 June 1986. The prohibition of discrimination in employment on grounds of disability has been included in the Employment Equality Bill, 1996, which has been passed by the Dáil. The Bill will be considered by the Seanad within the next few weeks.
