302 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for the Marine if he will assess the impact of the gas interconnector between Scotland and Ireland on fishing activity near the Irish Sea; and, if so, if lessons from this assessment could inform future similar projects. [1965/97]
The Gas interconnector between Scotland and Ireland was completed over a year ago. Concerns about possible impacts on fishing activity were expressed at the outset of the project but, following consultations between fishermen's representatives and An Bord Gáis, I understand the issues were resolved.
