70 Mr. McGrath asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs the expenditure by his Department on advertisements in national and provincial newspapers for each of the past five years. [3727/97]

The total amount spent by the Department of Foreign Affairs on advertising in the period 1992 to 1996, inclusive, is £305,365.15 broken down as follows:

Expenditure on advertising relates mainly to recruitment under the Irish aid programme and to the Passport Offices in Dublin and Cork.
