83 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Finance the expenditure by his Department on advertisements in national and provincial newspapers for each of the past five years. [3726/97]

Payments for advertisements by Government Departments in national and provincial newspapers are ordinarily made in respect of the Office of Public Works. The payments made in respect of this Department for each of past five years are shown in the following below.

The figure for 1995 also includes a figure of £39,568.03 in respect of payments made directly by this Department for advertising in relation to the divorce referendum.
