Vol. 474 No. 6

Written Answers. - Transport Services.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

101 Mrs. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Health if he will make funds available for the provision of transport to enable patients from St. Finian's Hospital, Killarney, County Kerry to avail of facilities at St. Mary's of the Angels, Beaufort in view of the fact that funding was provided for this transport by a private company up to its closure in 1995; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3568/97]

Limerick East): The Southern Health Board is responsible for the delivery of health services in its functional area. The board is aware that the transport arrangements for patients from St. Finian's Hospital who travel to St. Mary of the Angels, Beaufort to avail of its services ceased in 1996. The board is committed to the provision of alternative transport arrangements and is currently pursuing a number of options with a view to reinstating the service as soon as possible.
