Written Answers. - Telephone Charges.
As indicated in my recent statements on this matter, an interdepartmental expert group dealing with telecommunications matters, and chaired by my Department, is currently addressing the question of equal cost telephone access for the public to Government offices, Question No. 35 of 19 December 1996 and Question No. 62 of 13 February 1997 refer. A number of options to achieve equal cost access are being examined and I am hopeful that the group will find a basis for progress in this area.
